Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Green Bay Packers visiting the Cleveland Browns at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
The Browns are 0-2 heading into this showdown and are trying to bounce back after being roasted in a 41-17 loss to the Ravens last Sunday. Veteran tight end David Njoku has been a big part of the offense through two weeks, but now has stiff competition for the role of TE1 in Cleveland.
Below, we’ll go over Njoku’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.
Fantasy Football analysis: Browns TE David Njoku
Njoku had a decent showing in last week’s loss at Baltimore, catching four of five targets for 40 yards in the loss. As a top-10 tight end in ADP heading into the season, he has been slightly underwhelming for fantasy managers as he currently ranks 18th in PPR leagues and 23rd in standard leagues.
This has to do with the emergence of rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr., who has outproduced him with 12 catches for 111 yards through two weeks. The third-round pick out of Bowling Green is currently third in receptions among tight ends and Joe Flacco has targeted him more than the Pro Bowler Njoku. Some believe that the Browns could’ve found the breakout star of the offense amidst their early-season struggles, so we’ll see how that effects the veteran moving forward.
Start or sit in Week 3 PPR leagues?
Start. Just because Fannin is quickly ascending doesn’t mean there isn’t room for Njoku to eat as well. Cleveland has run the most 12-personnel (one running back, two tight ends) plays out of any team through two weeks and according to Pro Football Focus, Njoku is second among tight ends in both passing snaps (88) and routes run (80). And even with the success Green Bay’s defense has had through two weeks, it has been particularly vulnerable against tight ends by yielding 13 receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown through two games.
Njoku managers shouldn’t start panicking just yet. Stay the course and keep him in the starting lineup.
